You find another journal of Codex Initiate Norren. The passages within detail Norren's concern as with the new direction of the Silver Codex's research. The passages detail the location of supplies the initiate stowed in the event he needed to leave Aurelian.

“Master Samar and the elders of the Argent Hand hold no importance to my recent findings of the Stone King, nor of the Architects themselves. I joined the Silver Codex in the pursuit of knowledge… but I question the morality of what the First Scribe asks of us. While I am not privy to the experiments conducted in the Undercroft, even a blind man could see they experiment with dark forces. I am worried where this will lead. Whenever I feel this way, I like to visit to the Bell Tree near Aurelian. Recently, I’ve started leaving supplies there, in case I need to leave the monastery in a hurry. I hope I will never have need to use them.”

After finding Norren the Codex Initiate's journal, you managed to find his hidden cache underneath the Bell Tree. It seems he never escaped the monastery.
